Care & Maintenance Guide: Resin Bound Gravel Driveways and Paths

Introduction
Thank you for choosing HPM Groundwork’s and Surfacing Limited for your resin bound gravel installation. With proper care, your new driveway or path will remain attractive and durable for many years. Please follow the guidelines below to keep your surface in the best condition.

General Care
- Regular Cleaning: Sweep the surface with a stiff broom regularly to remove leaves, dirt, and debris.
- Washing: Clean with a pressure washer or hose on a fan setting (max 150 bar/2200 psi), keeping the nozzle at least 200mm from the surface. Avoid using a concentrated jet directly on the resin.
- Stain Removal: Clean up oil, petrol, or paint spills immediately with warm soapy water and a soft brush. For stubborn stains, use a mild detergent—never harsh chemicals or solvents.

Weed and Moss Prevention
- Weed Growth: Resin bound surfaces are resistant to weed growth, but occasional airborne seeds may germinate. Remove weeds by hand or use a water-based weed killer as needed.
- Moss & Algae: In shaded or damp areas, treat with a proprietary moss or algae remover. Avoid products containing solvents or acids.

Winter Care
- Snow & Ice: Use a plastic shovel or soft brush to clear snow. Avoid metal shovels to prevent surface damage. For ice, use non-corrosive de-icing salts (avoid rock salt where possible) and sweep away residue when conditions improve.

Heavy Loads & Usage
- Vehicles: Standard resin bound driveways are suitable for cars and light vehicles. Avoid parking heavy vehicles (e.g., lorries, skip lorries) or using sharp objects that could gouge the surface.
- Furniture: Use protective pads under heavy planters or furniture to prevent indentations.

Maintenance Checklist
- Sweep regularly to prevent build-up of debris.
- Wash the surface every few months or as needed.
- Remove stains promptly.
- Treat weeds and moss as required.
- Inspect for any damage (cracks, loose stones) and contact us for repairs if necessary.
